Hello, i'm Will Cremers from The Netherlands. I live near a town called Venray, that's in the south of our small country. In Venray there is the so called Venray War Cemetery. On this cemetery are resting 692 British Heroes as we call them. Now the local people from Venray area had the opportunity to adopt one or more of these graves at Venray War Cemetery. Now since two months all of the graves are adopted by the locals to take care of and make sure these Heroes will never be forgotten because they died for our freedom. I adopted one of the graves and the soldiers name was Alfred Williams, killed in action in 1944, age 25. he was one of the Green Howards from Yorkshire. Son of Daniel and Hannah Williams from Grove Hill. They lived at 35 Rosedale Avenue in Middlesbrough . Alfred was born on 16/09/1919, he had a sister Esther and a brother Kenneth. It seems that Esther married to a Charles Albert Porritt and their children where: Albert, Ian, Shirley and June. There is a marriage record for a Shirley Porritt to a Thomas W Jones in 1965. A 2021 electoral register gives a Thomas W Jones and a Shirley Jones living in Middlesbrough> ( adress is known ). I did send a letter to this adress, but no reply. Now i'm trying everything to find relatives of Alfred Williams the Hero from Middlesbrough so i can give the grave of this soldier a face. CAN YOU HELP PLEASE!!!!!!
